EdVenture Museum

I took Kylie to Edventure Children's Museum in Columbia, SC yesterday with her friends from the Mom's Club. We had a great time! They have a miniature grocery store where they can shop, a fire truck and fireman outfits for them to play with, a room with snow blowing and a snowslide, etc. I'm going to try to post a video of it soon.

Rudolph Performance

Bless the Heart

Last night, I told Paul, "Bless your heart," in the car. Kylie overheard me and when Paul went to get her from the car seat, she fake coughed and said, "Bless the heart!" Too cute.

Popsicles!

Kylie and I went to playgroup this morning. Kylie desperately wanted a popsicle. I know this because she kept repeating it over and over again. Finally she said, "Kylie's house. Popsicle. Bye friends. See ya later!" That was our cue to go...

This week, our theme is, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." Today we made star jello jigglers, used star cookie cutters to paint, jumped on stars scattered all over the floor and played "hide and seek" stars around the living room. "Hide and seek" stars was the big hit. Every time she found all the stars, she'd say, "Again!" and I'd hide them again for her to find.

Batteries

Kylie was watching Dora the Explorer last night. Dora had a scooter that was missing a wheel. Dora said, "My scooter won't go! It's missing something! What is it??" Kylie said, "Batterwies!"

I have discovered that Kylie will do anything for a Dora sticker. I was trying to brush her teeth last night and she was screaming and running. I said she could have a Dora sticker if she let me. She immediately opened her mouth and went limp. This is good information to have!
When I picked Kylie up at MDO today, she immediately started tattling on the other children in the class. "Harrison and Brooks been eating books! No eat books!" Her teacher said she was made in a wonderful way.

Bunco

Paul asked me last night if any ladies that I met in my MOPS group would make good Bunco partners. Kylie overheard and kept saying, "Bunco! Bunco!" I said, "Kylie, do you have Bunco?" She looked at me like I was an idiot and said, "No, I no got Bunco."

Yesterday Kylie got out of her crib and bounded into our room at 5:00 AM demanding gummy bears. She did not go back to sleep and she never took a nap, so it was a long day. She also did not receive any gummy bears!

Last night, Kylie was jumping from the ottomon to the couch and back again while yelling, "Super Bunny!!!" When I told her it was time to go to bed, she realized that she had not watched Dora the Explorer and she started crying for Dora. She cried and cried to watch Dora. Finally, she got distracted by a book, but when I got her up this morning, the first thing she said to me was, "Now I watch Dora!" Too bad it wasn't on this morning!

We registered her today for Mom's Day Out in the fall. She is qualified to go 3 days, but I think she'll still just go 2 days. We're so busy with Mom's Club activities (field trips, playgroups, brunches, etc.) on the other days that I don't want her to miss!

Kylie makes gingerbread men!

Kylie painting at her easel

Party in my Tummy

Kylie was "reading" the book, "Carrot Soup," to me. She flipped the pages and told me what was going on: "Carrot soup. Yummy. A party in my tummy. So yummy. Carrot soup."

Bouncy Bouncy Ball

We had craft day at our house yesterday with about 12 toddlers. We had them lie down on brown paper and traced their bodies. Then, we decorated the tracings to look like gingerbread men. Afterwards, Mom and I took Mia and Kylie to the library and to the playground. At the playground, Kylie told us, "We having fun playing in the wind!"

Kylie was having a fit last night for her "bouncy, bouncy ball." We finally discovered that this was the orange ping pong ball! She had me throw it over and over again while she brought it back to me. It was a little strange playing "fetch" with my child.

We tried to go to playgroup today, but Kylie had such a tantrum when we got there that we had to go home. I think she is teething because she keeps rubbing her mouth. She seems fine now that she's had lunch, tylenol and teething tablets.

Yogurt Raisins

In the grocery store today, I gave Kylie a package of yogurt covered raisins to hold. I then handed her some cheese to hold. She held them both up and said, "This one...or this one? Hmmm......" She then dropped the cheese and started enthusiastically hugging the yogurt raisins. Decision made!

Back to Mom's Day Out

Yesterday I took Kylie back to Mom's Day out for the first time since the holidays. She walked in and said, "Hey, Miss Amy. How you doin'?" When I picked her up later, the teachers told me that she said, "Let's go outside on the playground." When they told her it was raining she said, "Well, we got umbrellas!"

Kylie and I drove to Spartanburg and went out to eat with Super Nana and Aunt Jan. Kylie insisted on visiting the "garden" (salad bar).

Singing

While Kylie was painting today, she started singing: "Clap your hands! (clap, clap) Stomp your feet! (stomp, stomp) Bounce, bounce, bounce!" (bounced all around with paintbrush in hand, making me really nervous). Next, she approached the easel and said, "I have an idea...hmmm..." and started painting.

Gingerbread

Today, Kylie and I got busy with a Gingerbread theme! We made gingerbread bath salts (which we forgot to add to her bath tonight) and homemade gingerbread men. Kylie was very into the measuring and stirring of ingredients, rolling out the dough and cutting out the men. She did not get into the decorating very much. We also learned a new song about Gingerbread men and read, "Gingerbread Baby," which she was much more interested in AFTER we made the cookies! We matched paper gingerbread men, too. She was very busy all day and should sleep well tonight! I'll post pictures as soon as we get Paul's computer up and running.

We also went to Michael's Crafts today and got some new large plastic animals. Kylie was clutching them all as though they were going to jump out of the stroller. She looked down and said, "What's up, zebra?" to the zebra.

Bridge

Kylie made a "bridge" today between the ottomon and the couch with a pillow. When she tried to walk over the "bridge," it was ugly, as she fell straight through.

Happy Birthday

Now, every time I tuck Kylie in (at nap or at night) I say, "Night, night!" and she says, "Night, night. Happy birthday!"

When I went upstairs to put Kylie to bed, she picked out a book and said, "Daddy's turn." She made Paul read to her!

Easel

I introduced Kylie to her new easel today and she loved it! She painted like a pro...and told me what things were: "A big candy cane. Little candy cane. A barn." On her second painting, she said, "I paint a C and a D and a F." Then she told me to "paint a tractor." Of course, her paintings are extremely abstract!

Happy New Year 2009

Kylie rang in the New Year 2009 with friends last night. Her friends, Drew, Jackson, Mia, Nathan, Lauren, Daniel, Jack, Mara, Porter, Isaac and Logan were among the crowd that gathered at our house last night for a parent/kid party! Toddlers and party horns! Amazingly, nothing was broken (at least that I've found so far) and several of the kids actually stayed up to ring in the New Year. Kylie went to bed at 11:30. She almost made it!
This morning, Kylie ran to the potty and went pee pee in the potty. She then lifted up her little potty and emptied it into the real potty all by herself!

When putting Kylie to bed tonight, I said, "Let's get some socks on you!" She held up her feet and said, "Thank you for the warm socks for my feet." Awwwww!
