Rocket Dance

Kylie climbed into the crib at my mom's house and started jumping up and down, holding Baby. In a high-pitched voice, she said, "Kylie, you'd better stop! You're going to fall down!" Then in her normal voice, she said, "No, Baby! I'm just doing my rocket dance!!!"

Kylie was playing with some staples and cut herself. I didn't notice until after she had been banging on my mom's paino keyboard and covered the keyboard with blood. Nice! She later looked at her cut and said, "I need to go to the hospital!"

Tonight, I was reading Kylie a bedtime Bible story about God creating the world. At the end, I quizzed her with the question, "Who made the world?" Her answer, "Santa!" Hey, I'm trying!

Kylie is my daughter!

Proof that Kylie is my daughter: Tonight she took a bite of her dinner (salisbury steak) and said, "Oh, that is so good. Just like a margarita!"

As Kylie went up the stairs today, she said, "Wacha! Wacha! That means upstairs in Chinese."

Tripped

At school yesterday, Kylie fell and busted her lip. I asked her, "Did you trip on your shoes?" She said, like I was a complete idiot, "No. I tripped on my FACE!"

Kylie is really enjoying singing Christmas songs this year. Her favorite is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, which she sings all the time. In Cracker Barrel, after she heard some children singing, she flung wide her arms and started singing/yelling Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for the entire restaurant to enjoy.

Vocabulary Day

Yesterday, Kylie came up with lots of new vocabulary words. She was playing with Mardi Gras beads and I disturbed her...she said, "I am CONCENTRATING...you are FRUSTRATING me!" Later that night, she took a wrapping paper roll and wrapped a magazine around it. She proclaimed that she was making a "cornucopia hat."

Santa

I took Kylie to go see Santa today. She was eager to go sit on his lap, which is much different from previous years when she just screamed. She told him what she wanted and received a piece of chocolate. When we got to the car, she said, "I told Santa I wanted games and movies, but all he gave me was a piece of chocolate."

Last night, we were watching Max and Ruby on TV. This must have been an episode that she's seen WAY too many times. They were bird watching and I said, "Oh, that bird looks like a brown thrasher." She said, "No. It's a speckled warbler." Sure enough, it was.

After much internal debate, I took Kylie today to get the H1N1 vaccine. She did fine...we have to go get another dose in 30 days. I'm hoping it was the right choice. It's been very difficult to find the vaccine here in Augusta.

Today we also walked in the Memory Walk for Alzheimer's. It was a 3 mile walk, the highlight being a train that blew past us, tooting its horn and screeching its brakes. My friend, Melissa, suggested that we next raise money for the "Deaf Children's Fund."

Pumpkin Carving

Frustrated

Kylie came down the stairs the other night and said, "I hit my head. I am so FRUSTRATED!" Haha!

Mom and I took Kylie, Mia and Ella to the grand opening of the new Food Lion. They have little toddler sized carts that the girls could push around. We made each of them a list with things to put in their carts. They LOVED it! Leo, the Food Lion was there. Kylie said, "He looks like Dandelion from my book." The girls also got stickers. Now, Kylie only wants to go to Food Lion. If we go to Kroger, she gets mad. I took her back to Food Lion the other day, on a normal day...not the grand opening. Kylie said, "Where's Leo, the Food Lion??? Where's my sticker???" Back to reality, Kylie.

Last night, Kylie picked out some skittles from the Halloween candy bowl. She said, "I'm going to eat this candy when we get back tonight. Is that a good plan?"

We recently carved our pumpkin! Kylie dug right in there and helped scoop out the goo. She loved it!

At the Fire Station...

Kylie had a great time at the fire station with all her friends!

Painting the Pinata!

Here, Kylie is painting the pinata we are making for our Halloween party!

Doctor

Today, Kylie had to go to the doctor. The nurse asked what was wrong and Kylie told her, "I have a red and swollen eye and a snotty nose." The nurse said I didn't need to be there. Later, the nurse told Kylie she was going to eat her up, to which Kylie responded, "No." It ended up that Kylie just had a sinus infection. We got the go-ahead to continue with our trip tomorrow to the pumpkin farm and corn maze.

Cookies

Kylie helped me make cookies the other day. When Paul ate one, she said, "Aren't they FABulous??""

We went to the firehouse for a tour on Thursday. On our way there, Kylie yelled from the back seat, "I bet they have a hose!!" She was excited to see the firemen in their uniforms. When they said they were going to put them on, she yelled, "I have a unicorn, too!" I'm sure she was referring to the ride-on unicorn that she recently acquired.

Little Titty

Unfortunately, Kylie sometimes mistakes her "k" sound for "t". A friend just told me that when Kylie was at her house, she was going around singing to the tune of "Mary Had a Little Lamb," "Mary had a little titty, little titty, little titty."

In the meantime...

Kylie got some new silver sparkle shoes today! And some brown suede shoes (not as exciting and undeserving of an exclamation point). Once home, she put on her new shoes and said she wanted to go outside. We told her she could wear them tomorrow to school. She said, "Okay. I wear them tomorrow at school. In the meantime, I'll wear them outside." Cracked me up!

Bear Hunt

Today we were listening to "Going on a Bear Hunt." If you know the song, you know that they find a bear in a cave and run back to their house. At the end, it says, "We went on a bear hunt. And we weren't afraid." Kylie said, "But....they WERE afraid."

We went to a friend, Hudson's, birthday party today! Kylie got to decorate her own cupcake, but she was more interested in the dish of chocolate chips beside her. That's my girl! When we got in the car, she said, "I ate too much chocolate." I can relate.

Ghost

Tonight I put on a white clay facial mask while Kylie was in the tub. She took one look at me and said, "Oh. You gonna be a ghost for Halloween!"

Treat box

I have set up a treasure box system for Kylie's potty. Each time she earns 7 tokens (1 each time she uses the potty) she gets to look in the treasure box. Now, she has developed her own system for me. She filled a glass jar with toys and gives me one each time I go potty. I have earned a lot of toys!

Today, I told her that we were going to Target and the grocery store. She said, "No. That's not my plan. I am going to play with play doh."

Funny girl

Last night, I heard a big bang in Kylie's room. I went in there to find her naked and crying. She said, "I was spinning around til I got dizzy." She had fallen into her toy box. I told her to get in her bed. She said, "No. First, I'm gonna spin around til I get dizzy. Then I'm gonna pee pee on the potty. Then I'm gonna put on my panties. Then I'll get in my nice warm bed."

Yesterday, she was searching for the gummi bears. Unfortunately, I had eaten them all. She said, "There they are! They're running away!" I said, "Where are they going?" She said, "I think they're going to Africa!"

Kylie has been doing a pretty good job going on the potty. She earns 1 token each time she uses the potty. When she gets 7 tokens, she gets to choose a prize from the prize box. She still has yet to poop on the potty. I think she's scared to. I threw away a pair of pants today because I cannot handle cleaning them up.

Days and Months

Kylie is now singing her days of the week (both English and Spanish) and her months of the year (only English). She is also matching pictures with the letter that they begin with. Still no luck on the potty training thing, though. She has no interest in remaining dry. If I went all day without changing her diaper, it'd be okay with her.

New sight words!

So Kylie is reading even more sight words today. She read: look, said, and my! She is picking them up quickly now.

We went to Samantha's 2nd birthday party this morning at the pool. Kylie loves floating around on her inflatable fish, but hates to get her head under the water. Hopefully she will outgrow it. In the bathtub, she loves to twirl around, float and dunk herself. I don't know what the problem is in the swimming pool.

At the party, Kylie sat in my lap to watch Samantha open her presents and then she peed all over me through her swim diaper. Potty training is not going well! :(

Kylie's Mambo Shoes

"Now I can do the mambo!"

One of Kylie's first drawings!

Can you tell it's a person?

Kylie enjoying the fountains!

It's Been Awhile!

Well, it has certainly been awhile since I updated this blog. First, I have a funny thing that happened today. Kylie took a ViewFinder toy and pretended it was a camera. She said, "Say cheese!" I said, "Cheese!" She said, "Say pizza!" I said, "Pizza!" She said, "Say casserole!" I just had to laugh. :)

Kylie read her first sight words this week! She can read: up, to, this, we, a and I.

Lately, when we put Kylie to bed, she'll scream as we're going out the door. "I LOVE YOU!! I LOVE YOU!! I need to go to sleep....." It's too funny.

I guess our big news is that we're expecting a little brother or sister for Kylie in March! We're very excited!

Drawing

Today, Kylie drew a picture of a person. It was a circle with eyes, nose and mouth. She added hair on top. She said, "He needs arms," and drew 2 arms. She said, "He needs legs," and drew 2 legs. Then, she said he needed shoes and drew two lines on the end of the legs.

I am working on some sight words with Kylie and she's able to pick out some words when I lay out a group of about 4 or 5 words. Hooray!

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

Ha!

Okay, Kylie was extra funny today. Some of these may lose it in the translation, but here goes...

1) We started using M & M's to entice her to potty on the potty. She now sits on the potty all the time, crying because she cannot pee more to get M & M's. I think it has "clicked" now.
2) She wedged 2 tupperware containers on her feet today and said, "I got my slippers! Now I'm ready for the party!" I went and bought her some princess slippers and she put them on and said, "Now I'm ready to mambo!"
3) She ran out of her room tonight and said, "Mommy, come read me one more book, then you can go downstairs and watch TV."
4) As I left her room, she said, "My cougher!" I said, "What?" She said, "My cougher!!!" I said, "What???" She said, *sigh* "My blanket!!"

The other day, I said, "Why are you screaming your head off???" She reached up and grabbed her head and said seriously, "No, my head is still there."

It is a rainy night in Augusta and we really need it! Tomorrow we've got storytime at the library and I'm going to the gym. We might try our first movie at the theatre on Thursday!

Funny Stuff

We were sitting at breakfast this morning and Kylie said, "Cows eat milk." I said, "No, cows eat grass. They make milk." She said, "No, horses eat grass. Cows live in barns, like in "Click Clack Moo." Again, a literature reference! Love it!

We drove home from the gym and as we got into the driveway, she said very seriously, "We are home. My journey ends." She cracks me up!

Kylie is doing pretty well with her potty training. She has been out of diapers for 3 days now, and only 1 accident! She's still in diapers at night, but I don't think that really counts! Wish us luck in our quest for dry pants! :)

It's Been Awhile!

Wow...it's been awhile since I updated this! We must have been busy, although I cannot think of what we have done! The best news is that Kylie now knows all her letters and letter sounds. She was holding a DVD the other day and sounded out her first word, "RAT." We've been focusing on the -at words lately. :)

Funny...today we went to playgroup and the host had lots of pools and sprinklers set out. Kylie was playing with an inflatable palm tree. Another child tried to take it from her and she cried, "No!!! Don't take my Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!" All the children's book aficionados will appreciate that!

We have also been attending storytime at the library every week. Kylie sits right up front. When we play, "Ring Around the Rosy," she gets very upset that the teacher changes the words, "Ashes, ashes, we all fall down," to "Tissue, tissue, we all fall down." "No!!!! That's not right!" she screams. I have to agree with her. Their version stinks!

Nashville Girls' Trip!

We just got back from Nashville for our Annual Girls' Trip! Mom, Kylie and I spent the week in Nashville, doing all kinds of fun things. We went to the Nashville Zoo, which is really good. All the enclosures are very natural...you do have to walk quite a bit, though. We also went to the Chattanooga Aquarium, Adventure Science Museum, Discovery Center in Murfreesboro and other kid-friendly places. Kylie scored a pair of shiny silver shoes, which she dances in when anyone comments on them. I'll get some photos posted ASAP.

Swiped!

Today, Kylie was looking for her purple plastic envelope. She said, "Where's my purple letter? Somebody swiped it!"

Yesterday, she had a little gas. She said, "Uh oh. I pooted on Mickey and Pluto!" Her diaper has a picture of Mickey Mouse and Pluto on the front. Time for us to start serious potty training!

Kylie's on TV!

Nothing like a little snotty nose, scraped up face and skinned knee to make for great video!

Catching up with a few pics...

During our trip to Isle of Palms in May.

Strawberry picking in May...mmmm....

Ballerina

Kylie thinks she is a ballerina! I guess I should look into ballet classes! Although, I think she's pretty good already. :)

What happened?

Yesterday, we went out to eat with Granna, SuperNana, Aunt Jan and Uncle Moo. Kylie was going around the table, telling everyone what color hair they had. "Granna got yellow hair. Aunt Jan got brown hair. Supernana got white hair." She looked at bald Uncle Moo and said, "What happened to YOU?" Ha ha!

The day before, we were eating at Wade's and the cashier gave Kylie a lollipop. I said, "What do you say, Kylie?" She said, "Open it!"

Bath Loofah

Kylie picked up my bath loofah today and said, "This a jellyfish. This where the bubbles live."

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Big Mama

On our walk today, Kylie introduced me to a neighbor. She said, "This is Big Mama and I Little Kylie." Later, talking to herself, she said, "I Kylie and this is Meredith."

Sing it, girl!

I'm hoping the volume on this is okay! You may not be able to understand this whole song, unless you are familiar with it! It goes something like: How many stars are in the sky, I asked my daddy one day. He scratched his head and rolled his eyes, hemmed and hawed and hummed inside. Got a pen and paper and theorized. Three days later he apologized and said, "I just can't say!" Kylie also adds another verse about a jellyfish.

New Song

Kylie has been singing a new song lately. It goes, "Help me! Help me! the rabbit cried. All I need is a place to hide. Come little rabbit, come inside. I will take care of you."

Monday, April 20, 2009

Singing

Today, Kylie was started singing a song that I've been playing in the car for about a week now. She sang, "I ask daddy how many stars in the sky? He scratch his head and roll his eyes...hem and haw and theorize. Days later he apologize and say 'I just can't say!'" I cannot believe she is singing this song! It is hilarious and I've got to get her on video.

Doctor

I took Kylie to the doctor today about her runny nose. As we sat in the waiting room, another child kept touching her. She said, "Don't bother me! Don't touch me. You sit in YOUR chair. I sit in MY chair!"

Easter pics

Japanese Food

We took Kylie to eat at a Japanese restaurant for the first time tonight. She was highly entertained and entertained the whole table with her narration of what was going on: "Oooooo....he make fire. It hot! Oooooo....he gonna break that egg! He broke that egg! He mixing it around and around!"

Yesterday, her teacher told me that they were reading "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" today. The teacher said, "Oh no! The letters all fell down." Kylie put her hands to her face and said, "Oh no! We got to help them!"

Today, her teacher told me she piled all the plastic people into the plastic car and said, "Get in everybody! We going to Monkey Joe's!"

On Sunday, Granna gave Kylie an Easter basket. Kylie said, "Thank you for the Easter basket Granna. Amen."

Saturday, April 11, 2009

Awesome!

I asked Kylie tonight what the Easter Bunny was going to bring her. She said, "Lollipops from Target. Awesome!"

Cowboys

Kylie approached a strange woman at the park today. She said, "I'm Kylie and this is Mommy. We're cowboys."

On a related note, she yelled at a man in Kohl's yesterday, "I'm Kylie. This is Mommy and this is Granna. What you doing here???"

I was changing Kylie's diaper today and telling her how wet it was. She said, "That's a problem. Give me fresh diaper."

Kylie's Big Girl Bedroom

Kylie slept in her new "big girl" bed last night for the first time! She did fall out 2 times, but went right back to sleep when I put her in the bed. These are the colors: 3 pink walls and one chocolate wall. I have yet to hang the green gingham curtains! This pic just shows the colors and the bedspread. More later!

Saturday, April 4, 2009

He Sure is Big!

Upon seeing the Easter bunny, Kylie commented, "He sure is big!" She did not have much appreciation for him up close!

Kylie wore her Easter bunny ears around her waist the whole time. She said, "It's a apron!"

I Sleep Well

Last night, we made gelatin popsicles to freeze overnight and then I told her we were going on an Easter Egg hunt the next day. I went to get Kylie up this morning and she was already standing by her door. As soon as I opened the door, she said, "I sleep well. I need popsicle. Then we go on bear hunt."

More Funnies

Here are some funny things Kylie said today:

I walked into her room during her "naptime" and she was sitting on the floor with a bare butt. I asked her where her diaper was. She said, "It dirty. And I got diaper rash." She had taken it off and put it in the diaper pail.

I stepped on her tambourine and she said, "Sorry you step on my instrument, mommy."

She pointed to a dogwood tree and said, "Look! A bulldog tree!"

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Funny Things

Kylie was being funny today. Here are some funny things she said:

When I commented on the crazy crab on TV, she said, "That's not a crab. That's a lobster!"

We were walking around the neighborhood and I was pointing out the azaleas in bloom. She said, "That's amazing flowers!"

She fell and hurt herself and I said I would give her a bandaid after her bath. She said, "NO! I don't want my bandaid to float!!!"

Sorting Colors

This was from a few months ago, but I still like it! It's Kylie at 22 months sorting her color bears!

Kylie's 2nd Birthday

We celebrated Kylie's 2nd birthday on Mar. 14 with a family party at home. St. Patrick's Day was the theme. On the menu: Irish Stew, Guinness bread, cabbage, potato salad with bacon dressing, Irish cheeses, smoked salmon, etc. In attendance: Papa G and Mimi, Granna and Billy, Grandpa Creighton, Aunt Jan and Uncle Moo, Aunt Lisa and Uncle Mark, Laci, Tyler, Aunt Geri and Uncle Mike, Mia, "Aunt" Kim and "Uncle" Huff, "Aunt" Jennifer and "Uncle" Tony. Good time! Kylie got lots of new clothes, playdoh, art supplies, big girl sheets and comforter and other goodies.

Sand and Water Table

Kylie is loving this spring weather and her sand and water table!

Kylie's Birthday at the Park with Friends

On her birthday, Kylie enjoyed cupcakes at the park with her playgroup pals.

Monkey Joe's

I went to a concert on Tuesday night and got one of those paper bracelets. Kylie saw it the next morning and said accusingly, "You go to Monkey Joe's." As if I went without her. Ha!

Ella Claire

Congrats to Uncle Mike and Aunt Geri for the birth of Ella Claire Floyd, Kylie's newest cousin! She was born Mar. 15 and weighed 6 lbs. 11 oz.! We can't wait to meet her!

Panic Button

Last night, mom and I arrived in Spartanburg with Kylie and started to get settled in. Suddenly, the house security alarm started going off. We ran downstairs and punched in the number. Was the house on fire??? Was someone breaking in downstairs?? It went off again...and again...and again. We went outside to sit in the car until the police came. Mom went back inside and the security company said it was coming from the panic button. The panic button that was still in Kylie's little hand!!!! She kept pressing the panic button every time mom would punch in the security code. What a booger!

She has discovered how to climb out of a regular crib. I've spent 2 hours trying to get her to stay in it and she kept climbing out. Finally she went down and said, "I got a BIG problem!"

Popsicle Saga Continues

Today Paul sat on something on the couch and said, "Ouch!" Kylie came up to him, patted his back and said, "It's okay. You feel better. Later, you ask for popsicle. You say please."

I've been making Kylie give me a kiss and then I give her a popsicle. She just came up to me and said, "Here's a kiss. Popsicle please."

Thursday, March 5, 2009

Chair

I got Kylie a small green gingham chair today for her new "big girl room." She loves it! She immediately sat in it, kicked her feet over the edge and announced, "I love my new chair!!!" It was nap time later and she said, "Put the chair in the bed!" She wanted to sleep with it. She also insisted in sitting in it while I read her stories from my chair.

No Problem

Yesterday I put "big girl panties" on Kylie and we talked about keeping them dry. She said, "No problem." But of course, 20 minutes later they were wet. Oh well! We'll try again later!

Saturday, February 28, 2009

Yep, lesson learned!

So Kylie definitely learned her lesson. Getting hurt = popsicle. Today she bumped her nose on her crib and said, "I hit my nose. I get popsicle." Later, she bumped up against the coffee table and said, "I hurt my body. I get popsicle." I finally caved and gave her one, thus verifying in her mind that getting hurt = popsicle.

Friday, February 27, 2009

Fell off Chair

Today Kylie fell off her rocking chair and bit her tongue. It was really bleeding a lot so I gave her a popsicle. She quit crying after awhile and said, "I fell off my chair, and got a popsicle!" What a lesson in cause and effect. Hopefully she will not think that getting hurt is a good way to earn a popsicle in the future!

Kylie is an Optimist

This morning, I burned the pancakes on one side. Kylie looked at it excitedly and said, "Oh! It got chocolate on it!"

At school the other day, they were doing artwork with handprints. Kylie said, "Addie got a beautiful handprint and I got a beautiful handprint!"

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Sweet girl

I asked Kylie, "Are you a big girl?" She said, "No." I said, "Are you a little girl?" She said, "No. I a sweet girl. I a ballerina!"

This morning, she looked up at the sky and said, "Birds up there. Amazing."

Saturday, February 21, 2009

Baby Shower

Tonight we're having a baby shower for Geri and Mike! Aunt Jan whispered to Kylie at lunch that she had a present for her. When we got home, Kylie started ripping into the baby shower gifts, thinking they were all hers. Woops.

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Timer!

I have discovered that Kylie follows a timer very well! I set a timer at night and tell her that we will read until the timer goes off. Every few pages, she points at the timer and says, "When dat rings, I go to bed." When it does ring, she jumps up and climbs up the side of her crib. Not another peep! What a grand discovery!

We played a matching game today and she was able to match 21 pairs of like items that were all scattered about. She also has recently identified an "octagon." We are working on hexagon and pentagon.

Monday, February 16, 2009

Chocolate Raisin Meltdown

Today we were in Target getting some needed items. I promised Kylie a "treat" if she behaved. Of course, she demanded, "chocolate raisins." I gave her some midway through our shopping trip since she was being good. She proceeded to have a meltdown. When we reached the cashier, I gave the cashier the chocolate raisins and told Kylie she couldn't have them since she was having a fit. About an hour later, I heard from the backseat: "I want chocolate raisins, but mommy gave them away...."

I asked her later if she would like to go to McDonalds. She said, "Excited! Excited!"

Grocery Shopping at EdVenture Museum

We went to EdVenture Museum in Columbia, SC with the MOMS Club. This is Kylie's favorite part...grocery shopping at the mini-grocery store!

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Running on Treadmill

Kylie enjoys running on the treadmill! She even spins while running. She's very talented.

Beluga Whale

On our way into the Aquarium, Kylie held her hand up to traffic and said, "Stop, cars! Don't squish us! We got friends!"

GA Aquarium

Giving a "high five" to the diver! When Kylie first realized there was a person in there staring at her, she jumped so high! Hilarious!

We're walking through the large tank here. Lots of huge fish swimming overhead!

Kylie at Super Nana's Christmas Party!

Let's Learn About Stars!

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

Don't Eat Me!

Funny Stuff

My mom was rocking Kylie the other day and singing to her. Kylie made her repeat the song (Bye Baby Bunting) until she finally learned it. Once learned, Kylie sang it...then told Granna, "Get off me!" Later, when mom tried to put her in the pack 'n play for nap, Kylie told her, "I don't want to sleep in the box!"

Kylie was drawing today on a coffee filter. She said, "Color path to the right. Color path to the left. Color path in circle." I don't think she knows the difference between right and left yet, but she does like to yell from the back seat while I'm driving, "Turn right! Turn left! I want to drive!"

We're starting an "ocean" theme this week and will be going to the GA Aquarium in Atlanta this weekend. We've made a shark, a fish collage and a coffee filter jellyfish so far. When I hung up her art, Kylie peeled the fish collage apart and put the fish in the shark's mouth. She said, "Don't eat me! Don't eat me!" She wanted me to glue the little fish into the shark's mouth. She is obsessed right now with me drawing a shark and then drawing little fish getting eaten by it. Is this normal???

EdVenture Museum

I took Kylie to Edventure Children's Museum in Columbia, SC yesterday with her friends from the Mom's Club. We had a great time! They have a miniature grocery store where they can shop, a fire truck and fireman outfits for them to play with, a room with snow blowing and a snowslide, etc. I'm going to try to post a video of it soon.

Rudolph Performance

Bless the Heart

Last night, I told Paul, "Bless your heart," in the car. Kylie overheard me and when Paul went to get her from the car seat, she fake coughed and said, "Bless the heart!" Too cute.

Popsicles!

Kylie and I went to playgroup this morning. Kylie desperately wanted a popsicle. I know this because she kept repeating it over and over again. Finally she said, "Kylie's house. Popsicle. Bye friends. See ya later!" That was our cue to go...

This week, our theme is, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." Today we made star jello jigglers, used star cookie cutters to paint, jumped on stars scattered all over the floor and played "hide and seek" stars around the living room. "Hide and seek" stars was the big hit. Every time she found all the stars, she'd say, "Again!" and I'd hide them again for her to find.

Batteries

Kylie was watching Dora the Explorer last night. Dora had a scooter that was missing a wheel. Dora said, "My scooter won't go! It's missing something! What is it??" Kylie said, "Batterwies!"

I have discovered that Kylie will do anything for a Dora sticker. I was trying to brush her teeth last night and she was screaming and running. I said she could have a Dora sticker if she let me. She immediately opened her mouth and went limp. This is good information to have!
When I picked Kylie up at MDO today, she immediately started tattling on the other children in the class. "Harrison and Brooks been eating books! No eat books!" Her teacher said she was made in a wonderful way.

Bunco

Paul asked me last night if any ladies that I met in my MOPS group would make good Bunco partners. Kylie overheard and kept saying, "Bunco! Bunco!" I said, "Kylie, do you have Bunco?" She looked at me like I was an idiot and said, "No, I no got Bunco."

Yesterday Kylie got out of her crib and bounded into our room at 5:00 AM demanding gummy bears. She did not go back to sleep and she never took a nap, so it was a long day. She also did not receive any gummy bears!

Last night, Kylie was jumping from the ottomon to the couch and back again while yelling, "Super Bunny!!!" When I told her it was time to go to bed, she realized that she had not watched Dora the Explorer and she started crying for Dora. She cried and cried to watch Dora. Finally, she got distracted by a book, but when I got her up this morning, the first thing she said to me was, "Now I watch Dora!" Too bad it wasn't on this morning!

We registered her today for Mom's Day Out in the fall. She is qualified to go 3 days, but I think she'll still just go 2 days. We're so busy with Mom's Club activities (field trips, playgroups, brunches, etc.) on the other days that I don't want her to miss!

Kylie makes gingerbread men!

Kylie painting at her easel

Party in my Tummy

Kylie was "reading" the book, "Carrot Soup," to me. She flipped the pages and told me what was going on: "Carrot soup. Yummy. A party in my tummy. So yummy. Carrot soup."

Bouncy Bouncy Ball

We had craft day at our house yesterday with about 12 toddlers. We had them lie down on brown paper and traced their bodies. Then, we decorated the tracings to look like gingerbread men. Afterwards, Mom and I took Mia and Kylie to the library and to the playground. At the playground, Kylie told us, "We having fun playing in the wind!"

Kylie was having a fit last night for her "bouncy, bouncy ball." We finally discovered that this was the orange ping pong ball! She had me throw it over and over again while she brought it back to me. It was a little strange playing "fetch" with my child.

We tried to go to playgroup today, but Kylie had such a tantrum when we got there that we had to go home. I think she is teething because she keeps rubbing her mouth. She seems fine now that she's had lunch, tylenol and teething tablets.

Yogurt Raisins

In the grocery store today, I gave Kylie a package of yogurt covered raisins to hold. I then handed her some cheese to hold. She held them both up and said, "This one...or this one? Hmmm......" She then dropped the cheese and started enthusiastically hugging the yogurt raisins. Decision made!

Back to Mom's Day Out

Yesterday I took Kylie back to Mom's Day out for the first time since the holidays. She walked in and said, "Hey, Miss Amy. How you doin'?" When I picked her up later, the teachers told me that she said, "Let's go outside on the playground." When they told her it was raining she said, "Well, we got umbrellas!"

Kylie and I drove to Spartanburg and went out to eat with Super Nana and Aunt Jan. Kylie insisted on visiting the "garden" (salad bar).

Singing

While Kylie was painting today, she started singing: "Clap your hands! (clap, clap) Stomp your feet! (stomp, stomp) Bounce, bounce, bounce!" (bounced all around with paintbrush in hand, making me really nervous). Next, she approached the easel and said, "I have an idea...hmmm..." and started painting.

Gingerbread

Today, Kylie and I got busy with a Gingerbread theme! We made gingerbread bath salts (which we forgot to add to her bath tonight) and homemade gingerbread men. Kylie was very into the measuring and stirring of ingredients, rolling out the dough and cutting out the men. She did not get into the decorating very much. We also learned a new song about Gingerbread men and read, "Gingerbread Baby," which she was much more interested in AFTER we made the cookies! We matched paper gingerbread men, too. She was very busy all day and should sleep well tonight! I'll post pictures as soon as we get Paul's computer up and running.

We also went to Michael's Crafts today and got some new large plastic animals. Kylie was clutching them all as though they were going to jump out of the stroller. She looked down and said, "What's up, zebra?" to the zebra.

Bridge

Kylie made a "bridge" today between the ottomon and the couch with a pillow. When she tried to walk over the "bridge," it was ugly, as she fell straight through.

Happy Birthday

Now, every time I tuck Kylie in (at nap or at night) I say, "Night, night!" and she says, "Night, night. Happy birthday!"

When I went upstairs to put Kylie to bed, she picked out a book and said, "Daddy's turn." She made Paul read to her!

Easel

I introduced Kylie to her new easel today and she loved it! She painted like a pro...and told me what things were: "A big candy cane. Little candy cane. A barn." On her second painting, she said, "I paint a C and a D and a F." Then she told me to "paint a tractor." Of course, her paintings are extremely abstract!

Happy New Year 2009

Kylie rang in the New Year 2009 with friends last night. Her friends, Drew, Jackson, Mia, Nathan, Lauren, Daniel, Jack, Mara, Porter, Isaac and Logan were among the crowd that gathered at our house last night for a parent/kid party! Toddlers and party horns! Amazingly, nothing was broken (at least that I've found so far) and several of the kids actually stayed up to ring in the New Year. Kylie went to bed at 11:30. She almost made it!
This morning, Kylie ran to the potty and went pee pee in the potty. She then lifted up her little potty and emptied it into the real potty all by herself!

When putting Kylie to bed tonight, I said, "Let's get some socks on you!" She held up her feet and said, "Thank you for the warm socks for my feet." Awwwww!
